Incoming GPA Midstream and GPSA President & CEO Sarah Miller previewed her remarks at the upcoming GPA Midstream Convention in a column published recently in Tulsa World (subscription required).
In her article, Miller highlighted the crucial role midstream plays in the energy system.
"The importance of midstream cannot be overstated," she wrote. "It is integral to the functioning of modern society, to the economy, and to the advancement of global energy strategies. Our members are at the forefront of building and operating the infrastructure that will safely and responsibly meet our nation’s energy needs for decades to come."
Midstream functions as the invisible industry connecting resources from the point of production to the energy and countless products that shape our lives.
With more than half a million miles of pipelines and over 365 processing facilities, midstream is more than an industry — it's the backbone of our nation's energy infrastructure.
In the Tulsa World article, Miller wrote that GPA Midstream and GPSA will continue to support members with the resources they need and champion the essential nature of midstream in the energy ecosystem.
"The issues surrounding the production and use of energy are enormous," Miller wrote. "As a society we must balance our goals of reliability, affordability, security, and sustainability against the practical realities of science, supply chains, regulatory frameworks, and politics. GPA Midstream and GPSA are well-positioned to help midstream companies navigate such issues. Our associations are unique in their dedication to the interests of operators of midstream facilities, and their suppliers. This focused advocacy is vital in an evolving energy landscape."
Miller is scheduled to make remarks about the future of the industry and the role of GPA Midstream and GPSA during the Center Stage Luncheon at the GPA Midstream Convention in San Antonio next month. Current GPA Midstream Chair Micheal Dunn, Chief Operating Officer at Williams, and retiring GPA/GPSA President & CEO Joel Moxley will also address the gathering.
The keynote speech will be delivered by renowned business visionary Jay Samit, who has advised popes and presidents, collaborated with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, and helped launch LinkedIn, eBay, and iTunes.
