GPA Midstream Statement Regarding Senate Action on Waste Emissions Charge

GPA Midstream released the following statement regarding the U.S. House of Representatives passage of a resolution to block the EPA's costly methane emissions fee:

"GPA Midstream congratulates the United States Senate for joining the House of Representatives in passing a resolution that would block the costly methane emissions fee implemented by President Biden’s US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We thank Senator John Hoeven (ND) for his leadership in introducing the measure, which uses the Congressional Review Act to block the Waste Emissions Charge (WEC).

The WEC would have dramatically increased energy costs for the American people by imposing an unnecessary and expensive tax on GPA Midstream members and their operations. Midstream operations are an essential component of delivering the affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy needed to meet the needs of American homes and businesses.

Before passage of the WEC, US methane emissions dropped 19% from 1990 to 2022 — evidence of midstream’s proactive commitment to stopping leaks and continuously improving operational efficiency.

The measure now goes before President Donald Trump, whose signature will stop the WEC."
