GPA Midstream released the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Energy's study released Dec. 17, 2024 on liquefied natural gas exports.
"GPA Midstream looks forward to performing a detailed review of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s analysis of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, especially its determinations regarding economic impacts, and providing appropriate comments. Based on our preliminary review, GPA Midstream appreciates that the DOE does not recommend a ban.
"We hope there is a recognition of the environmental benefits of LNG exports, as reflected in a recent study by ICF International, a leading science-based climate consultancy that conducts independent research for government agencies and organizations, which showed US LNG exports have lower lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to using coal alone, fuel oil alone, or the expected mix of alternative fuels (summed across all countries importing US LNG) that would most likely replace imported US LNG.
"GPA Midstream will continue to engage this administration, as well as the next, to ensure our country has trade policy, energy policy, and national security policy informed by facts to achieve both beneficial climate and economic impacts."
