GPA Midstream members honored at 2024 Gulf Energy Excellence Awards event

GPA Midstream and GPSA members won 2024 Gulf Energy Excellence Awards, which were presented during a black-tie gala in Houston on OCT 9. Several other members were named finalists for the 2024 honors.

“We received nearly 500 nominations this year, from which more than 180 finalists emerged,” said John Royall, CEO of Gulf Energy Information. “This is a record year for nominations, and a testament to the evolution in the technologies shaping the global oil and gas industry.”

The Gulf Energy awards program recognizes innovation and technological advancement across upstream, midstream, and downstream market segments. The Excellence Awards are designed to help improve industry standards, showcase progress, inspire collaboration and partnerships, and stimulate innovation.

“It’s no surprise that GPA Midstream and GPSA members are represented in a program honoring midstream excellence,” said GPA Midstream President & CEO Sarah Miller. “We commend Onboard Dynamics, and Williams for their achievements and contributions. Each is an example of how GPA and GPSA members lead with expertise and a commitment to innovation, and superior performance.”

GPSA member Onboard Dynamics won in the category of Best Advancement in Midstream Maintenance Technology for GoVAC© MAX Pipeline Evacuation System.

The technological innovation is an automated, self-contained solution for capturing and recovering natural gas during pipeline evacuations. The system reduces emissions and improves safety by preventing methane from being released into the atmosphere and eliminating the need for traditional gas venting or flaring.

“We are honored to receive this recognition for our GoVAC MAX System,” said Mitch Schmidtke, President of Onboard Dynamics. “This award underscores our commitment to developing practical solutions that support the natural gas industry. We remain dedicated to driving innovation on our mission of advancing cleaner energy for our environment.”

GPA Midstream member Williams was named Midstream Operator of the Year for its achievements in all aspects of its operations, including safety, profitability, production, and sustainability.

“This award is evidence that our employees’ commitment to excellence makes a difference in our industry,” said Robert Biffle, Vice President Commercial – Gulf of Mexico, Williams.

In addition to the winners, three members were named as finalists including:

“I’ve seen firsthand how important recognizing excellence in the energy sector is,” said Adam Murray, Vice President, Performance Products with WeldFit, which won a Gulf Energy Excellence Award in 2023 and was a finalist in 2024. “These awards celebrate the movers and shakers in our field, pushing boundaries and driving change. It’s a place where out-of-the-box thinking takes center stage, and I thrive on that! Considering a nomination? Do it! GPA Midstream and GPSA members deserve a moment in the spotlight and opportunities to connect with like-minded innovators, and inspire others. Let’s light up the energy world together!”
