Jason Latimer — renowned inventor, futurist, bestselling author, and science-based illusionist — will be keynote speaker at the Center Stage Luncheon during the GPA Midstream Convention this September, where he will challenge assumptions about the future of energy and expand ideas about midstream innovation.
An acclaimed illusionist, Latimer was the series champion of BBC One’s The Magicians, recipient of Siegfried & Roy’s Masters of the Impossible Award, and winner of magic’s highest honor, “Grand Prix ‘Best Overall’ World Champion of Magic. He joined performers such as David Copperfield and David Blaine in receiving the prestigious Golden Grolla Award.

Since 2015, Latimer has been curator of Impossible Science for the Fleet Science Center in San Diego, Calif. In that role, he created an academic platform that unites magic and science to inspire curiosity and interest in education. His STEM program, which integrates illusion and science fiction into more than 50 experiments that teach scientific concepts, has expanded to science centers throughout Southern California.
During his Center Stage Luncheon appearance, Latimer will weave together the wonder of seemingly impossible magic, the scientific principles underlying those illusions, and a call for innovation. With jaw-dropping effects, Latimer will illustrate how asking the right questions can turn science fiction ideas into future technology. During his remarks, Latimer will present “magic” as a way to reframe problems and ignite collaborative creativity.
