The objective of this project was to extend the capabilities of the Curl-Pitzer correlations for predicting enthalpy and entropy to temperatures in the cryogenic region. These correlations are available in the 1966 NGPSA Engineering Data Book with lower limitations of reduced temperature of 0.5 for enthalpies and 0.8 for entropies. The lower limit for enthalpies was previously extended from 0.8 to 0.5 by Dr. Lyman Yarborough, who also has maintained close liaison with Drs. Chao and Greenkorn during the course of this project. The objectives of this project have been met by extending the Curl-Pitzer pressure correction factors to reduced temperatures of 0.35 for enthalpy and entropy. Charts incorporating these extended correction factors will appear in the ninth edition of the NGPSA Engineering Data Book. Generalized correlations of the enthalpy and entropy deviation functions for use with the Curl-Pitzer correlation have been prepared for non-polar liquids in the new low reduced temperature range extending down to Tr = 0.35. The enthalpy correlation was obtained upon differentiation of the generalized fugacity functions previously developed by the authors, and upon combining the new enthalpy function with the fugacity function. The new results are intended for supplementing the NGPSA Engineering Data Book of 1966 in the low temperature range.
